Kite Festival 2011 By: BatangRizal (Laguna) Organization
With the municipal government promoting the Municipality of Rizal, Laguna, BatangRizal Organization takes part on this aim through conducting the first ever Kite Festival at The Landing Point, April 30, 2011.
The activity was composed of two categories: the Barangay and Open Category of which specific criteria were prepared for judging. In addition to this, BatangRizal Organization had chosen a kite designed as L-4 Piper Plane for the Barangay Level, to commemorate one major historical event held at the so-called “The Landing Point” which serves as an emergency landing strip wherein three American Airmen were picked up led by Major Charles Howe during World War II. It was also where Mrs. Virginia Llamas Romulo and her two sons were rescued to join her husband, Gen. Carlos P. Romulo in Mindoro.
With this historical project, overwhelimg support from different organizations was sent to BatangRizal Organization to make this event successful. The Local Government Unit of Rizal, Laguna headed by Mayor Antonino A. Aurelio and the OIC Tourism Officer Vice Mayor Ferdinand O. Sumague had showered their support for this project. It was graced by participants from different Non-government Organizations, Business community, Laguna PNP, the 202nd Infantry Brigade, and some media who covered the event.

This activity is not just a contest to compete but an opportunity for the Rizaleños to bond with family and showcase their skills in making quality and colourful kites.
